At what point in which DC Universe does Midnighter take on Superman? When Superman is a vampire! That’s the gist of this series.
Okay, maybe it’s just me but to be honest I found this a bit hard to follow. In my defence though, unless the drawings are really simple - and I mean Peanuts simple - I can’t read monochrome comics. Judge Dredd is my main passion and they’ve done stories that run from 4-8 issues and I just can’t follow them because the drawings are too complex and without colours my eyes just can’t make sense of them. One of the reasons is that I have particular difficulty sometimes in disinguishing the drawings from the lettering. Okay okay - it’s black and red (you couldn’t really do a series about vampires without using red), but when you have a cast of a dozen superheroes who all wear dramatically different coloured costumes normally but all appear so similar in this one I just couldn’t tell all these fuckers apart. It was very different in the Deadpool series Black, White & Blood though - those comics were ONLY about Deadpool, and as his outfit is black and red anyway it was pretty easy to follow where he was and what he was doing in each frame.
But I digress.
