The brief blurb you’ll find everywhere: “The creative team behind Monster & Madman and Thirty Days of Night would like to introduce you to the ongoing adventures of retired monster-hunter Frederick Allan and his family… which include a thrill-killer, a witch, and a warlock. Because sometimes crazy is the glue that binds a family together.” There is a much longer blurb on the first graphic alongside this torrent.
Ultimately this is a beautiful pastiche of creepy stuff. Think… Butcher’s Mark, Addams Family, Teen Wolf, Locke and Key, Supernatural, V Wars, oh - and Twin Peaks of course. You know, that kind of stuff.
And the two children are twins (18?) and the son is very openly gay. (Which is the point of me uploading it onto here). The entire comic series was 18 issues, and it’s presented here in 5 volumes. I’m not through the series yet but very invested.
Netflix made a TV series based on this in 2020 but cancelled after only one season. It was okay-ish, and the son was explicitly gay in that.⏬
