Christine McPherson, affectionately named but also self-proclaimed Lady Bird, is an ambitious, brilliant and early developed high school student. Seeking liberation from the suburbs of Sacramento,she dreams of a different life, full of East Coast skyscrapers, famous universities and cosmopolitan life. But her grades are not the highest and she has no significant connections, so Lady Bird has to take advantage of her extracurricular activities to continue dreaming of college. She joins the theater group and there she meets new friends, her first loves and an intense public life. With her judgmental mother working double shifts as a nurse, her father recently laid off and her brother out of Berkeley and working in a supermarket, she already knows that a good after-school life is not a simple walk in a park.
